HEXENTEXTE 2022, 2024

HYENA, Perfect Bound, 128 pages, 2024

ENGLISH

HEXENTEXTE is a Los Angeles–based feminist project dedicated to the research, presentation, and publication of works at the intersection of image, text, and the body.
Borrowing its name from Unica Zürn’s Hexentexte — a collection of anagrammatic poems and automatic drawings — the project celebrates the multiplicity of feminine and queer expression through collaborative publications.

Paola Daniele contributed to two major HEXENTEXTE projects curated by Cindy Rehm and Adrienne Walser:

HYENA, Perfect Bound, 128 pages, 2024
Published to mark the centennial of André Breton’s First Manifesto of Surrealism, HYENA gathers works exploring identity, corporeality, ritual, eroticism, animality, and mortality. Inspired by Leonora Carrington, the hyena embodies feral femininity, gender transgression, and matriarchal power.

DREAM HOUSE, Perfect Bound, 88 pages, 2022 —
Sold Out
A collaborative zine in honor of the 50th anniversary of Womanhouse (Los Angeles, 1972), Dream House reimagines the woman-house through collective dreaming and feminist reconstruction. Divided into four sections — Whispering Walls, Body House, By Her Hands, and New Constructions — it gathers over ninety contributors building today’s house of women, voices, and resistances.
Daniele’s works This is my blood (Paris, 2015) and Our blood flows (2024) appear respectively in Dream House and HYENA, continuing her reflection on the body as a political space and the sacred potential of blood as matter of resistance and renewal.
